December 24th 2011. Christmas Eve.
I spent Christmas Eve out in Harajuku with friends, Timo, Pauline and Doug (Pauline’s boyfriend who came to visit). The plan was to go hang around Harajuku to show Doug around and visit the Meiji Shrine and Yoyogi park which are right beside Harajuku’s main streets. It was a very lovely day, even though it was slightly cold.
Afterwards I went to Ikebukuro with Timo to grab some nice dinner. Christmas is a couple’s holiday in Japan so most people thought we were just dating. Everywhere around us was mostly just couples out for a romantic dinner and shopping. I must say the meaning of Christmas is completely lost in Japan. This really makes me miss home.
Later that evening I went out for a few drinks with friends but found myself so tired that I left early and went to bed. It sure isn’t a Christmas Eve with the family but it was none the less a nice day and evening.
