The Prince of Egypt.

This is one of my must fond memeories of my childhood. I really love this movie and yet too little people seem to remember it even existed. Why? Does it still hold up as a movie or am I just being blinded by nostalgia? Nah, it’s an incredibly under rated animated classic.

The Prince of Egypt, which was done by Dreamworks and came out in 1998, is based off of the story of Moses from the book of Exodus. It is not loosely based at that, Dreamworks had many religious consultants to make sure the story was as accurate as possible. The movie has, great visuals, good songs, interesting characters and an incredibly epic story. Interestingly, the focus of the stories and its biggest drama lies in the relationship between the two brothers. What? Didn’t you know Moses and the Pharaoh were brothers? Well they were and this movie has an interesting take on the situation. The animation is also very nice, using all of its assets to the best.

This movie from my childhood is what I always associated with epic. The reason for this is, mostly the story, but also the music. The opening song in the movie is still one of my favorite songs till this day. This is the Hebrew version and it is so beautiful. I get chills from it every time. If you haven’t seen the movie, I highly suggest that you do.
